TYPE FAIR PH is a celebration of Filipino artists that focuses on typography, calligraphy, and lettering. I am hoping to be part of the type exhibit they are curating for the event this December 2023 with the following submissions. I deliberately chosen different styles with every composition not just to showcase my skills, but also to explore what I can do.
[above] DITO MUNA TAYO (in baybayin; Let's stay here for a moment) is a composition inspired by the song Dito Muna Tayo by the Filipino band Munimuni. It is an invitation to stay in the current moment even just for a bit and cherish the time the you have with the people you care about.
[above] BAKA/SANA/'DI NA TAYO (Maybe / Hoping / It's Not Us) is an exploration on uncertainty, hope, and acceptance–hoping for the uncertain chance of being together
with someone you care about, while also accepting the possibility that that time might
not come, and that togetherness only happens in your dreams. A melancholic fantasy.
[above] HETO NA NAMAN TAYO (Here we go again) expresses a different level of company. It is finding beauty in the tiring, mundane stuff; it is seeking wonder in the unending arguments, boring routine, and relentless list of bills. May we all realize that there is light even in the deepest and tiniest of tunnels, and that you are not alone.
